From downtown Reykjavik we’ll take a drive to Leidarendi cave, a perfect example of lava tube geology. We’ll go by foot and sometimes crawl through frozen formations, small stalagmites and stalactites, and icicles of all shapes and sizes. We’ll finally have a use for our headlamps!

We can’t wait to experience this world famous giant therapeutic hot pond. It is almost a must that we soak in the powder blue geothermal seawater when in Iceland.

We’ll be on the lookout for minke whales, white-beaked dolphins, humpbacks and giant blues, as our boat jostles for space in Húsavík’s intimate harbor. After an unforgettable day on the water we’ll visit the Whale Museum and have a brew at one of the harbor's bars and cafés.

Taking up one twelfth of Iceland’s surface is a dome of ice called Vatnajökull. We’ll hire a guide and explore the rumbling, provided with gear to steer us through the jumble of crevasses and pinnacles. We’ll make our way to the glacial lagoon, Jökulsárlón , as we marvel at the icebergs that drift by and out to sea.

After we get outfitted with all the necessary gear, we will discover the glacial depths of one of Iceland’s best diving spots, the Silfra Fissure. During this guided snorkel tour we will experience the volcanic fields of Thingvellir National Park and swim between continents between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates.

We'll hover over ruby-red lava flows and the Bárðarbunga volcano's 10km wide caldera to witness spectacular live eruptions. We can’t wait to sit back and relax as we enjoy Iceland’s wild landscapes from above.

We’ll visit the magical iceberg lagoon and black beach, Jokulsarlon, where 1000-year old icebergs combine with a black volcanic beach that is covered in translucent blocks of ice that appear like massive diamonds on the surface. We can stop by the Seljalandsfoss waterfall and take a boat ride in the lagoon.

One of the best Iceland tours is the Golden Circle Full Day Tour, where we will experience the Kerid Crater. We’ll see towering waterfalls, Thingvellir National Park, bubbling turquoise geysers, and the Strokkur Waterspout all clustered around the Golden Circle.

Well take the Kjölur Trail between two icecaps which is a historic route through Iceland’s highlands. The famous Icelandic horses, as they have done for centuries, will forge through glacial torrent. The ride will provide us with open vistas, glaciers and lava deserts.

Outdoor adventure awaits us in Iceland! We’ll be amazed at dramatic landscapes, ethereal geological formations and delightful rural villages. This beautiful country is where fire meets ice, furrowed mountains meet cascading waterfalls, and isolated people radiate vibrant culture. The perfect place for an adventure of a lifetime.

Beginning in Reykjavik, we’ll drive to Thingvellir National Park, Iceland's first national park. Here we witness the divergent drift of the American and Eurasian plates. The start of our hike will be in the Þjófahraun lava field, where the palagonite mountains and ridges have been formed by volcanic activity during the last glacial period. This 4-hour hike will take us to the summit of Mount Hrafnabjörg for stunning views.

The volcanic region of Landmannalaugar is covered with pumice stone and pitch-black lava and we will set out on a hike to the top of a nearby peak for a panoramic view of this isolated highland oasis, the Fjallabak Nature Reserve.

A hike along the local fisherman’s trails will be amazing! The Snaefellsnes peninsula has fishing villages, lighthouses and even shipwrecks. Panoramic views include Mt. Snaefellsjokull, coves, inlets and sea cliffs, which are nesting sites for a multitude of bird species.

Extending from the great Vatnajökull ice cap is an outlet glacier, Kvíárjökull, this is where we will strap on some crampons, grab our ice axes and explore. Kvíárjökull is full of ice sculptures, vast crevasses and long, narrow ridges. Even with navigating through this unique geography we will still be able to enjoy the expansive views of the nearby mountains and ocean.

With a trusty guide who knows the country roads we will travel outside Reykjavik to the best viewing spots, hearing about the science of this unique natural phenomenon and its related Icelandic folklore.
